Nic and Wendy Brownlie

Nic and Wendy are your hosts and welcome you on every retreat, whether you're a reader, a writer, a walker,

a Shakespeare enthusiast - or all four!

Nic is a graduate of the world-famous Shakespeare Institute, at the University of Birmingham, with a doctorate that focused on on Shakespeare's Late Plays. ​​​In previous lives Nic has been Head of English and Director of Drama in various educational establishments including Wellington College in Berkshire and The Leys School in Cambridge.  He has also worked extensively as a professional actor, director, stage manager and lighting designer, across the UK.

Wendy trained and worked for several years as an intensive care nurse in London hospitals, before undertaking a stage management course at Mountview Theatre School. After working on various West End and touring productions, as well as at the RSC, she retreated from the stage to bring up three healthy sons. Prior to moving to North Wales, in 2022, Wendy ran a series of care and residential nursing homes in Hertfordshire.
